The race to unseat the current Women Representative Hon. Beatrice Adagala is heating up each and every day as we head towards the general election in August this year. The position has attracted six women coming across the county, with each sub-county producing atleast one aspirant. With the chaotic nominations looming, most aspirants are positioning themselves in friendly parties that will help them sail through easily.
Hon. Afandi B. Lukalo is being courted by ODM to use it as the vehicle for August poll according to sources that could not confirm. According to her, she says that the moment is not ripe to announce the party she will use in August. “The rumors that I have joined ODM are false and I can’t disclose anything beyond that”, she said.
Sources reveal that, Hon. Afandi has received backing from her closest rival in the race Hon. Violet Bagada Afandi who has quit the race after securing employment with a Non-governmental organization. Before quitting the race, Hon. Bagada had campaigned since 2018 to unseat the incumbent. Neither Hon. Afandi Lukalo nor Hon. Violet Bagada could confirm the deal.
If elections are held today in Sabatia constituency, then the outcome is evident.
