After celebrations of the merger of the three parties notably UDA, ANC and FORD-Kenya, the reality is hitting hard as we approach nomination deadline. Speaking recently on Citizen TV, the MP for Kiminini constituency Dr. Chris Wamalwa hinted that Zoning of Strongholds is ‘must’ to protect Parties from probable extinguishing. He emphasized that Bungoma and Tranzoia remains FORD Kenya Stronghold and wouldn’t mind if UDA withdraws their candidates in the said region. “If the new marriage has to work then the least FORD Kenya can agree is the rest joining the Party and have nominations under our umbrella,” he further stated.
This complicates the matter among candidates especially those vying for the parliamentary seats. They had already positioned themselves. Hon. Chris Wamalwa’s sentiments were echoed by Businessman, who is also a UDA protagonist in Kabuchai Constituency Mr. Evans Kakai. Mr. Kakai categorically stated that the coalition cannot purport to part ways at grassroots but have unified nominations so that Wanainchi can be allowed to choose their leaders in preparation for August polls.

In Webuye East Dr. Iyaya Wanjala is the first one to jump ship. When it became clear that he must join FORD Kenya or look for another vehicle, he has opted to join seek refuge from DAP-Kenya where he believes it will be easier when subjected to nominations. His likely Opponents will be Mr. Kizito Temba and Ms. Caroline Buyela. He prefers to contest against the dour as opposed to vying against Hon. Martin Pepela in FORD Kenya. He wishes to face Hon. Martin Pepela in August than this day in time. He’s yet to get audience from Cs Eugine Wamalwa. His campaign manager said his boss cannot subject himself to face a strong candidate in nominations, he will rather contest as independent candidate.
Late last year, Dr. Iyaya ditched UDA after Deputy President’s tour in Bungoma. He faced hostility from the residents after failing to give out the money amounting to sh. 700,000 meant for Boda bodas and Mama mbogas as promised by the Deputy President. Mr. Muyundo who’s the main rival in UDA gained ground forcing the Mathematics Lecturer to quit UDA for DAP-Kenya. Few days later through her social media handle, Ms. Caroline Buyela announced that she had joined the same party something that propelled Dr. Iyaya to rejoin UDA. This happened after Cs for defence Hon. Eugine Wamalwa received him in DAP-Kenya and announced to back him in that endeavor.

On Saturday last week after Home coming party of former regional commissioner Mr. George Natembeya, Dr. Iyaya tried to get audience from the Cs and seek forgiveness but in vain.
