The Teachers Service commission has come out on their website to denounce the advert that was going around on social media calling for recruitment of teachers. The commission termed it fake and should be avoided and ignored. The ministry of Education has been allocated sh. 500B in just read budget. Part of the money will be channeled to the Teachers service commission to employ extra 10,000 teachers before the schools reopen.
The government has also allocated money to carter for the CBA where several cadres of teachers will benefit with an increment at the end of July 2020. The highest beneficiaries will be the school administrators followed by senior teachers.

The Teachers service commission also announced that the teachers working on intern program will be given the first priority during employment. Over 5,000 teachers employed as interns have not been absorbed on permanent basis countrywide. The teachers earn a gross salary of sh. 15,000 which again is deducted to carter for NSSF, NHIF and some still pay HELB loan leading a paltry reminder that’s less than sh. 10,000.
Schools were closed due coronavirus pandemic way back in march 2020. Students are expected back in September for the commencement of second term. With the restrictions on social distancing the government has promised to provide more cash to schools meant for construction and enhancement of sanitation services in all schools. The move if achieved will see demand for more teachers to deal with increased number of classes.
