The city Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has not found it rosy in management of the capital city. The relationship with the country’s leadership and his own county assembly has been sore since he was elected in the office. At first it’s alleged he was forced to surrender functions to the county secretary Mr. Kariuki and his then Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe. He vehemently declined something that led to Igathe’s resignation.
The Governor is currently struggling with the court battles and so far he’s not allowed in the city hall offices. Apart from poor cabbage collection mechanisms, the governor has done a lot compared in just three years compared to the predecessor Dr. Evans Kidero. He has tarmacked many roads in slums, drilled water, constructed health facilities with Pumwani and Mama Lucy getting the lions share, constructed a stadium at Dandora, added two fire stations, raised 5 market malls and many other projects.
Since Nairobi Metropolitan Services director-general Mohammed Badi, took over the city hall, more visible projects have been witnessed. The army man has done alot too in a short period of time leaving Sonko helpless. Residents now view NMS as a savior in restoration of the capital city back to the desirable level. So far the Governor has claimed he was given liquor that confused him to sign the deal at statehouse.

As things continue becoming messy everyday for the Governor, he’s heading to the dark end in the city administration. He has once again registered his intention to end the agreement between the Nairobi County government and the National Government signed on February 25, 2020. This will not happen regardless of the number of times court litigation rules in his favour.
