It has never been easy for ODM top most official in his backyard Bungoma County. The ODM secretary general attracts a major following away from home especially from the youth. Back home the leaders have branded him negatively to the electorates. Despite getting accolades when he traverses across the country, he gets it difficult to get attention back home and currently they seem to brand him a betrayer of luhya unity.
Most elites from the county perceive him as arrogant and unapologetic therefore not fit to lead in any capacity especially in elective politics. This was evident during 2017 elections where the ODM secretary lost in nominations to contest for parliamentary seat in kanduyi constituency. Thereafter was given a ticket to contest for senatorial position in Nairobi but lost to Hon. Sakaja whom most luhyas voted for despite having farfetched roots in mulembe nation at khwisero.
Is this kind of leader luhyas having been lacking and yearning for?
The ODM secretary General is known to be aggressive, shrewd and very smart in political arena. Most people in mulembe nation have been constantly castigating their leaders like Musiala Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Eugine Wamalwa and many others for not being go-getters and aggressive.
At a tender age, Edwin Sifuna has shown all the traits lacking among mulembe proclaimed leaders. Together with Cleophas Malala Kakamega county senator, both have proved to be forceful in their courses something that should be embraced rather than ridiculed. Bungoma leaders are afraid Sifuna can easily outsmart them given a minimal platform.
