Kenyans across the board lashed at Dr. Bonny Khalwale after his utterances demeaning the Luo community when asked to comment on the Kibra by-elections chaos. Speaking on NTV’s AM live yesterday morning Khalwale said a luhya cannot run away especially when fighting with uncircumcised individuals. The former legislator who was seen on camera on the day of by-elections throwing stones defended himself stating that it was defense mechanism because he was being attacked. Some stated that such statements are meant to create division between luhya and luo nation when the two tribes have co-existed and live in harmony with each other.
The social media world majority Kenyans have termed Khalwale statement uncalled for, demeaning and unacceptable. Most of the writers have demanded that he withdraws and apologizes unconditionally. So far the former senator is still silent on the same issue.
On the rejoinder, Dr. Otiende Omollo cautioned Khalwale and the tangatanga group on the reckless and inflammatory remarks that can lead this country back to anarchy. According to the Luo culture, Otiende Omollo said a Widower cannot be beaten before 60 days.
The Mp for Rarieda constituency could not understand how Dr. Bonny Khalwale has metarmophisized in short period of time. “From medical practitioner, you changed to bullfighting politics then Surgoi caretaker and now you’re a stone thrower”. He lamented.
The Kibra By-elections that saw ODM reclaim its seat has led to serious divisions especially in the ruling party Jubilee.
