Education Ministry clears the air on the re- opening date.

The schools and colleges closed on March, 16th 2020 as directed by the president himself due to the spread of covid-19. The head of state directed that the institutions be closed for a period of 30 days. That means they should reopen on April 20, 2020. There’s a circular on the social media indicating that the reopening of schools is on April, 27 2020. The circular has raised anxiety among Kenyans and other stakeholders in the education sector given that the numbers on covid-19 infected patients has risen to over 150 people.

The ministry of education in a statement, has come out swiftly to denounce the circular as fake and should be ignored. The ministry disclaimer indicated that the announcement will be made later and decision based on the current situation on the spread of coronavirus.

Currently the ministry of education is engaging the learners through media platform in all subjects. The Cs for education Prof. George Magoha did call upon parents to guide their children to adhere to the lessons being delivered on the media.

The fake document had stated that schools will reopen from April, 27 2020 to June 12, 2020 for term one. Term two according to the same fake document was to commence on June, 22nd 2020 to September 4th 2020. Then lastly, third term to start from 21st September to 19th December 2020.
