Vintage photograph autographed by Professional Golfer JOE KIRKWOOD (1897 – 1970) with his young black caddy.
An exceedingly RARE signed vintage photo of Kirkwood, who died in 1970. Bold signature is in brown ink and reads: LEST YOU FORGET / JOE KIRKWOOD. Photo measures 8" x 10" and bottom right corner is marked: BUZZ TAYLOR PHOTO.
Kirkwood was probably best known for his trick shooting. He teamed up with Walter Hagen, and together they toured the world's golf courses putting on shows and offering golf tips to royalty and ordinary people. He is credited with 29 holes-in-one, 2 of which were on the same round. Kirkwood was the first pro to use a wooden tee and he helped to develop modern golf clubs while an adviser to Golfcraft engineers.
Photo displays beautifully, but does have some wrinkling and light staining at top center, not affecting image or autograph. Tiny tack nicks at top and left edge. Absolutely no rips, tears, or repairs.
