    Description

    Brand New Flame Boss 500 WiFi Model!
    These began shipping in March 2019.  Check out our other auctions for the lower cost FB 400 model.
    This is the newest unit--think of it as an upgrade to the 300 (which was discontinued in July 2018.)  The 500 adds a 4-line, 64 character backlit screen on the control unit, and has ports for all of the probes (no more y-adapters.)  It also comes with a removable 2-way magnetic mounting bracket.  It has a standard 1/4x20 UNC female fitting on the back, so just about any tripod, flexible arm, or camera mount can be screwed into it (really expands your mounting options!)
    This unit can direct connect with your Android or iOs device if internet is unavailable.  If you're going to be travelling outside of its broadcast range (300ft) and want to be able to monitor/control, then you will need a router with internet access in its vicinity.  Also, the Flame Boss can now be controlled through an Amazon Echo / Alexa and Google Assistant!
    This unit accepts/reads up to THREE meat probe at a time (one included.)
    Just like the 200, 300, & 400 before it, it's a Wifi model and put all the data & graph on a website or app for you to see.  It will notify you through alarms or via text message when the MEAT temp is reached, or if the PIT temp falls out of parameters and it is unable to compensate (like running out of charcoal.)  You can set it to automatically ramp down the pit temp (to keep warm), once the meat reaches its target temp.  It has lid-open detection where it will halt the fan until it detects the lid being closed.  It will also automatically search and download new firmware anytime it is connected to internet access.

    If you want BOTH adapter kits, send us a note and we can get you setup for that.  The fan is slightly different between the two models, but it attaches the same way.  So it's super easy and cheap to be able to use it on both style grill/smokers.  Send us a message and we will get you hooked up depending on what type smokers you have.
    About the probes:
    This unit *can* monitor up to THREE meats at a time, and then uses the other probe to monitor and control pit temp.  It *includes* ONE pit probe and ONE meat probe.  If you want two be able to monitor ONE (or TWO) extra MEATs, you need to order ONE (or TWO) extra MEAT probes.  If you remember the old FB300, you needed y-adapters to split those--not any more!!  The FB500 has ports for all the probes--no y-adapters needed!
    It's not a bad idea to get an extra meat probe and/or pit probe.  Reason being, these are the sacrificial parts in ANY temp controller or monitor.  They are exposed to high heat, flames, humidity, etc.  They WILL fail eventually and your temp controller is worthless without the pit probe.  These probes are covered under warranty, but you'll be down until we can get you new ones.  Get an extra one of each NOW, to have on hand when they do fail some day in the future.  To prolong the life--wrap the exposed wires in foil, always keep them in indirect heat, do not submerge in water, be careful not to smash when closing lids/doors on them, and do not subject them to extreme heat (i.e. these are to control temps in your SMOKER, not your pizza oven.)
